I can do it alone, but why should I?
In high school, I rowed crew and was coached by these sturdy Russians who told me to row faster, squat lower, and lift heavier.
I was pushed and pushed and pushed. I often resented their yelling and dreaded workouts, but come time to perform on the water — our team was a well-oiled machine that worked in unison.
Sure, I could have attempted to learn rowing on my own. I could have googled form and technique and dedicated myself to 2 hours on the water each day, but you know what. I wouldn’t have.
Doing it alone is doable, but it’s much easier to follow in the footsteps of someone who has done it before.
There will be a point in your business, career, or life where you are ready for help. It can be hiring a coach to help systemize your business or an executive coach to uplevel your skills in a company, or it can be a professional who helps you with your kids.
Coaching programs like masterminds, 1:1 coaching work. Sure, you can continue googling on your own, or you can find a program that works for you.
Not sure where to start?
- Identify what you want help with: Make a list of all the areas you want to focus on and why.

- Ask around: There are SO many coaches out there that it’s hard to find the “one.” Start by asking your friends who may have hired a coach and how that coach helped with their transformation.
- Book a consultation: Most coaches offer 30 to 1-hour consultation sessions. Get to know them and get a sense of their coaching style before you hire them.
When I work with my clients, I want it to be a “hell, yes!” Coaching is something that you should feel excited to sign up for and not dread.
